Earl Wendt IV or known as "Boo" Wendt to most, brings over 40 years of experience in helping families during very difficult times so that their loved ones' memories can be cherished and their lives celebrated. He has been a licensed funeral director for 39 years and is the sixth generation of Wendt family to own and operate Wendt Funeral Home. He believes every life should be celebrated and is here to help families with the utmost compassion, care, and understanding while they navigate through the process during such a difficult time. In his spare time, you will find him in the great outdoors, whether it be hunting, fishing, or enjoying the rivers and lakes on his boat.
Stephanie is new to the area and the funeral home business. She is very friendly with a strong compassion for others along with a keen sense of keeping everything organized. She loves meeting new people and helping the families in any way possible. Stephanie is bilingual, speaking fluent Spanish. She is married and has two children. Also known as "Nana" to her three grandchildren and one more on the way, WOOHOO!
Tamara brings over 36 years of entrepreneurial experience to Wendt Funeral Home, specializing in Business Development & Marketing. She has owned several businesses from the time she was in her twenties, earning many accolades/awards along the way. She brings a keen eye and intuition for "what's happening" and on-trend, no matter the industry. But most of all, she has a strong desire to help families celebrate their loved one's love story, legacy, and life! Everyone has a story to be told and she will help the families make it happen for their loved one's. When she's not thinking of new ideas for the funeral home, you can find her painting large abstract art, designing, traveling, or enjoying the great outdoors with her husband, Earl "Boo" Wendt.
Pat was born into the funeral business, being the fifth generation and working for our family business starting in his teens. He joined the United States Army and trained and served as a combat medic In Vietnam from Sept 63 to October 64. In 1967 he attended and then graduated from Worsham College of Mortuary Science. In 1967, he became a partner in Wendt Brothers Funeral Home with his brothers Earl "Buck," Mike, and his Uncle Richard Wendt. After seven great years, he sold his interest in the funeral home to pursue other endeavors. After retiring in 2008, he decided to return to his family roots, Wendt Funeral Home, as a part-time staff member. His passion's in life include spending time with his wife, Candace, his four children, and eight cherished grandchildren. He also enjoys serving our community through various organizations and charities. Pat loves serving the families that choose Wendt Funeral Home, with the utmost compassion and care.
Gary W. Smith is originally from Bennett, Iowa. He worked for John Deere for over 28 years, retiring as a Senior Quality Engineer. Gary enjoys being around people and helping in the community, having worked for United Way and the Putnam Museum as a volunteer for many years. Gary is committed to faithfully assisting the families who choose Wendt Funeral Home for their loved ones services.
Marty Mahieu is a retired school teacher and coach with a rich history in the Moline School district, where he and his siblings also graduated. Having enjoyed a fulfilling career in education, Marty transitioned into a new chapter of his life after retirement. With 38 years of marriage to his wife, Cindy, and two wonderful children, Maggie and Ben, Marty cherishes his role as a grandfather to the energetic and loving duo of Elliott and Miles. Beyond his family commitments, Marty finds joy in various hobbies. He loves spending quality time with his loved ones and close friends, whether it's on his bike, during a workout, or while lifting weights. In his current role at Wendt Funeral Home, Marty extends his caring nature to offer compassion and support to families facing challenging times. With a deep sense of empathy, he helps alleviate pressures and stress, providing comfort during difficult moments.
