Zora Jean Cook

July 9, 1929 — March 20, 2023

Zora Jean Cook, 93, of Moline, passed away on March 20, 2023, at Silver Cross, Rock Island, IL.


Services will be on Monday, March 27, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., at Wendt Funeral Home, Moline, with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Rock Island National Cemetery.


Memorials can be made to First Baptist Church, Moline, IL, or Youth Hope, Moline, IL.


Zora was born July 9, 1929, in Creal Springs, IL, to Samuel Lindolph and Julia (Ridlen) Kimmel. She graduated from Marion High School in 1947.


She moved to Moline in 1948 and worked for John Deere Plow Company Office for nine years.


She married Warren Cook in Moline, IL, on December 13, 1951. They have three children: Shane Cook, Des Moines; Darvi (Norman) Brown, Bettendorf; and Stefan (Veda) Cook, Renton, WA.


She and Warren were involved in rental real estate and long-time Quad City Rental Property Association members.


She was a long-time member of the First Christian Church of Moline until it closed. She had been a Deaconess in earlier years and was a member of the CWF Board. She later attended the First Baptist Church of Moline.


She enjoyed trying out new recipes, watching TV shows, and enjoyed traveling in earlier years.


She is survived by her husband, children, and grandchildren: Mike, Shawn, and Ryan Cook, Gabe Preston; great-grandchildren: Luke and Maddox Cook; brother Marvin (Amy Laurel) Kimmel.


She is preceded in death by her parents and her sister Naomi Kimmel.
