Wilma Louise Maier

Wilma L. Maier, 84, of Moline, IL. died on Monday, October 22, 2007, at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Knoxville, IL. Wilma Louise Carr was born on December 17, 1922, to Orville and Julia (Myers) Carr in Moline, IL. She married Johnnie Maier on June 17, 1947 in Moline, and he preceded her in death in 1976. She was employed as a Bookkeeper for the Rock Island Arsenal in Rock Island, IL for 27 years, retiring in 1982. Wilma was a volunteer at Illini Hospital in Silvis, IL. She loved dogs, reading, doing crossword puzzles, and especially loved her grandchildren. Services will be held on Saturday, October 27th at 4:00 P.M. at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline. Visitation will be Saturday, from 2:00 P.M. until time of the service at 4:00 P.M. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Survivors include: two sons: Jeff Maier of Rock Island, IL, and Michael (Carolyn) Maier of Memphis, TN., six grandchildren: Chad of Austin, TX, Amy of St.Cloud, FL, Jay of Joslin, IL, Terra of Lafayette,IN, Christina of Memphis, TN, and Michelle of Tampa, FL; and two great-grandchildren: Jacob of Memphis, TN and Coleman of Tampa, FL. She was preceded by her husband, Johnnie, her parents, and three sisters.
