William E. "Bill" Berry, 73, of Moline, IL, passed away Sunday, Decemter 14, 2008, at Trinity Terrace Park Medical Center in Bettendorf, IA. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 17th, from 4:00 p.m.until 7:00 p.m. at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline. Services will be Thursday, December 18th, at 11:00 a.m., at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens in East Moline. Memorials may be made to Ken Ague, for a fund to be established. William Edmund Berry was born in Rock Island, IL, on February 19, 1935, to Ralph and Rosalie (Greene) Berry. He was married for a time to Helen Spicher, beginning on December 31, 1953. He was employed by Burklund Auto Sales for 10 years, before retiring in 1960. He was a 42-year resident of Springbrook Courts in Moline. Bill was an avid fan of NASCAR and the local stock car tracks, and during the 1960's, he drove race cars at the former Santa Fe Speedway near Chicago, and won many races. Survivors include: daughters: Sue (Bill) Gibbs of Victoria, TX, Kim Berry of Silvis, IL, and Dottie (Ed Bowers, Jr.) Ague-Bowers of Bettendorf; a son: Kenneth V. (Cheri) Ague of East Moline; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; many adopted children, including Steve and July Miller of Milan, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter: Carolyn Berry; a sister: Betty Ague; a brother: Fred J. Berry, Sr; a granddaughter: Danelle Stevens; a grandson: Martin Garlock, Jr.; and his lifelong friend: Marie Mosley.
