William Donald Glendon

William D. Glendon, 98, of Silvis, IL, formerly of Moline, IL, passed away Monday, November 30, 2015, at Genesis Illini Medical Center in Silvis. Visitation will be at Wendt Funeral Home, Moline, Thursday, December 3rd, from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm. Services will be Friday, December 4th, at 10:30 am, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rose Lawn Memorial Estates in Moline. Memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church in Moline, or to a charity of the donor’s choice. William Donald Glendon was born in Chicago, IL, on October 9, 1917, to William and Helen (Smith) Glendon. He attended elementary schools in Moline, and was a graduate of the Moline High School Class of 1935. On September 27, 1942, in Moline, he married Catherine Gustafson, who preceded him in death in 1988. He was a foundry engineer at Deere & Company, retiring in October of 1977, after twenty-six years. He was a member of First Lutheran Church in Moline, and enjoyed woodworking, golfing, and reading, especially mysteries and westerns. Survivors include his daughter Sara Wildermuth of Moline; a brother, Robert Glendon of Morris, IL; grandchildren: Matthew (Gina) Glendon, Rachel (Daniel) Melcher, Lisa (Adam) Weiss, Eric (Lori) Wildermuth, and Laura (Adam) Jordan; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, a brother, a sister, and two sons, Bruce Glendon and William R. Glendon.
