William Daniel Jones, affectionately known to friends and family as Bill, passed away on May 17, 2024, in his hometown of Moline, IL. He was 65. Bill was born on August 27, 1958, to the late Wayne and Delores (Zimmerman) Jones.
He is survived by his son, Nicholas Davis; his siblings, Gary (Christine) Jones of Phoenix, AZ; Rick Jones of Moline, IL; Cheryl (Stu) Ebner of Minneapolis, MN; and Denise Teague of Maryland; and many nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by his beloved parents, his brother Michael Wayne Jones, his sister Deborah Leigh Cunningham, and nephews Michael Wayne Richard Jones and Christopher Alan Cunningham.
A proud graduate of Moline High School, Bill's professional life was as much about service as it was about skill. He began his career as a bowling technician in the Morale, Welfare, and Recreation Department of the US Air Force at George Air Force Base in California. Upon returning to the Quad Cities, he continued to share his expertise and friendly demeanor at the former Town and Country Bowling Alley in Rock Island.
Memorials may be made to Salem Lutheran Church in Moline, IL (https://salemmoline.org).
Bill's impact extended far beyond his professional life. He possessed a natural gift for assisting others with their challenges, a quality that endeared him to many and established him as a cornerstone in his community. A certified HVAC technician and a naturally gifted mechanic, he could often be found working on “whatever was broken” at a friend’s house. The words that encapsulate Bill's essence are “kind” and “thoughtful.” He approached every situation with empathy and a determination to leave a positive mark on those around him.
