Vicki Lynn Waltman

Vicki Lynn Waltman, 57, of Coal Valley, IL, passed away on Saturday, October 8, 2011, at Select Specialty Hospital in Davenport, IA. Per her wishes, the body will be cremated. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, October 12th, at 2:00 p.m., at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline, IL, with a one-hour visitation prior to the service. Memorials may be made to the Hooved Animal Humane Sociaty, PO Box 773935, 3935 Solutions Center, Chicago, IL 60677-3009. Vicki Lynn Schlueter was born in Festus, MO, on April 19, 1954, to Henry and Margaret "Peggy" Schlueter. On March 5, 1982, in Moline, she married Timothy Waltman, who survives. She graduated from Windsor High School in Imperial, MO, Jeffco Community College in Festus, MO, and the former Moline Public Hospital School of Nursing in Moline. During her life, she worked for AT&T, Attorney Ned Wier, and as an RN and trauma nurse at various Quad Cities Hospitals. Vicki was independent and self-reliant until fighting off cancer three times, ultimately becoming disabled in 1998. She fought for her health until going five years cancer-free in September of 2010, only to be slowed down again by a stroke on October 10, 2010, that left her with brain damage and a flacid left side. She lived at her home with her husband of 29 years, until a second stroke put her into a coma on September 1, 2011. She was a member of the Quad City Arabian Horse Club, and the Abu Arabian Horse Club of Springfield. Vicki loved family, animals, and shoes, and she held her friends close to her heart. She enjoyed writing prose, and loved showing, training, and breeding horses. She saw life as a book waiting to be written. She will be sorely missed. In addition to her husband, Tim, she is survived by: sisters: Camille Fulton of Stark, KS, and Charlette (Frank) Tidd of Festus, MO; and a brother: Mike Schlueter of Barnhart, MO. She was preceded in death by her parents, and two sisters: Paulette Hendricks and Cecilia Sweeny.
