Thelma Jean Cox, 97, of Moline, IL, passed away, surrounded by her loving family, on Friday, November 14, 2014, at her home. Services will be Thursday, November 20th, at 12-noon, with a one-hour visitation prior to the service, at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens in East Moline. Memorials may be made to the family. Thelma Jean Owen was born in Ava, Missouri, on June 1, 1917, daughter of James A. and Lounora (Thompson) Owen. She married Robert Earl Cox on October 20, 1949, and he preceded her in death September 4, 1994. She worked as a registered nurse during WWII, in Chicago, IL, before moving to the Quad Cities. She was later employed as a Department Manager for Montgomery Ward, and then, Carson Pirie Scott Department Stores. Survivors include sons, Terron R. (Patricia) Cox of Huntley, IL, and Cary D. Cox of Moline, with whom she lived for six years; daughters, Dora Lou Brooks of Cedar Rapids, IA, and Deedie (David) Legler of Rapids City, IL; son-in-law Myron Ahlf of Port Byron, IL; two brothers, two sisters, fifteen grandchildren, and twenty-five great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by seven siblings, and her precious daughter Jeannie Lynn Cox Ahlf.
