Terisa Bunch, of Rock Island, IL, died in the arms of her husband, Roy, and with her son Chase, by her side, at the University of Iowa Hospitals. She was 67 years old, and she was a survivor. She fought cancer with grace and love. Cancer does not care who it takes or who it hurts. It comes into your life and starts to break the threads that hold you . . . But the most amazing thing happens in the end, cancer loses its strength, and grace appears. Grace and love win, not cancer. Terisa's grace and love won.
A memorial service with visitation will be held Saturday, January 28, 2023, at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline, and a Celebration of Life will follow at the Wunder Y in Moline. Details for the time will be available soon.
Of all the things she did in this life, nothing compared to being with Roy, her children, Chase and Jason, and her grandchildren. She fought every day to stay alive and to be with them. She LOVED life. She loved creating & making beautiful things such as jewelry, stained glass art, stepping stones, and paintings, tending to her Tropical Trees and she enjoyed traveling. She loved being with her grandchildren and doing any projects they had to do; she had a fierce loyalty with her best friends, Val, Sue, Bonnie, Sandy, Diana, and Candi; she loved to chat and laugh with them through their decades of friendship.
She was born on November 7, 1955, in Moline, IL, to William and Helen (Bachelder) Mahar, who both predeceased her in death. She graduated from Moline High School in 1973. She was employed by Desaulniers Printing and then with Aramark Refreshment as a warehouse supervisor for 22 years, with whom she was recognized many times for her dedication and work. She was married to the love of her life, Roy Bunch, for 26 years; however, their union was for 36 years.
Her survivors include her husband, Roy; her sons, Chase (Jessica Argyle) Roberts and their daughter Layla, and Jason (Kim Smith) Bunch and their children, Olivia and Wyatt; grandchildren, Caleb, Zoe, Drake, and Ryder. Sisters, Helen (David) Gustafson; Brothers, Harry Mahar and Patrick (Lisa) Mahar. Her parents and siblings, William Ackerman, Beverly Garret, and Roberta Alender, preceded her in death.
