Teresa Burnett

Teresa Burnett, 63, of Coal Valley, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2024, at Genesis Medical Center East, Davenport, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on February 22, 1961, Teresa was the cherished daughter of Warren and Virginia (Shuler) Dowell. She graduated from Moline High School in 1979, where she made lifelong friendships and fond memories.

That same year, she married the love of her life, Richard Burnett, embarking on a beautiful journey of love and devotion that lasted 45 years. Together, they built a family full of warmth, laughter, and shared adventures. Teresa took immense pride in being a homemaker, a role that allowed her to pour her heart into raising their two beloved children, Samantha (Justin) Palmer and Joshua (Jessica Layman) Burnett.

Teresa had a gift for bringing joy to others through her cooking and crafting, always creating something special with her hands and heart. She found peace and happiness in nature, and some of her fondest moments were spent by the water, fishing for Blue Gills with her loved ones. Her gentle spirit, generosity, and love for her family were evident in every aspect of her life.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Richard; her children, Samantha (Justin) Palmer and Joshua (Jessica Layman) Burnett; and her siblings, Charles (Sharon) Dowell, Darlene (Corky) Allen, Cheryl Dhaemers, Joy (Russ) Farren, Dean Dowell, Terry (Tammy) Dowell, and Jerry (Debbie) Dowell. Teresa was also blessed with many nieces and nephews who will fondly remember her kindness and love. She was preceded in death by her parents, Warren and Virginia Dowell, and her siblings, Ruth Lees, Leroy Dowell, and Joyce Stablein.

Teresa's life will be celebrated on Friday, October 11, 2024, at 1 p.m. at Wendt Funeral Home, Moline. Visitation will take place from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow in Coal Valley Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
