Suzanne Calvert, 92, of Moline, IL, died Saturday, June 4, 2011, at Trinity 7th Street Campus in Moline. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 7th, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline. Services will be Wednesday, June 8th, at 10:00 a.m., at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1608 - 13th Street, Moline. Burial will be in Moline Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Quad City Animal Welfare Center in Milan, IL. Suzanne Mary DePlancke was born in St. Michaels, Belgium on October 27, 1918, to Camille and Elizabeth DePlancke. She married Troy L. (Red) Calvert, Jr, on May 3, 1941, in Moline. He preceded her in death on November 17, 1984. Suzy and her husband operated the Uptown Sporting Goods Store in Moline, for many years. In later years, she was a waitress for several area restaurants. Suzy was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Moline, and a past member of the Viking Club, and Friends Circle Club in Moline. She enjoyed watching soap operas, reading, and working crossword puzzles (in ink). She had a beautiful singing voice and enjoyed singing Belgium songs. Suzanne adored her two cats and several dogs she had over the years. Survivors include two daughters: Christine Hoerrmann, and Kathy (Tom) Creen and son Steven Calvert, all of Moline; three granddaughters: Lynn Vershaw of Moline, Carrie (Chuck) Carroll of Edina, MN, and Erin (Brian) Delf of Rock Island; great-granddaughter Emily Vershaw; great-grandsons Mike Vershaw, Charlie Carroll, and Jacob Delf; niece Sandra (Ralph) Tornes of Coal Valley, IL; step-sister Mary Jo (Bud) Shay of East Moline, IL; special friend and care-giver Alice Busch; and several cousins in Belgium. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, her step-father Leo Boens, and a son-in-law Richard W. "Dick" Hoerrmann.
