Stanley L Stone

Stanley L. Stone, 82, of Moline, IL, died Thursday, June 20, 2019, at Genesis Illini Restorative Care in Silvis, IL. Cremation rites will be accorded. Services will be held Thursday, June 27 th , at 12 Noon, at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline, with a 2-hour visitation prior to services, beginning at 10 a.m.  Inurnment will be at National Cemetery on Arsenal Island, Rock Island, with Military Honors provided by American Legion Post 246. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the donor’s choice. Stanley was born August 6, 1936, in St. Cloud, MN, to Mr. and Mrs. Bert L. Stone.  On November 14, 1970, in Colona, IL, he married Patricia Lynn Williams, who preceded him in death on Sept. 29, 2010. Stan served in the U.S. Marine Corps, from 1953 to 1956, attaining the rank of Sergeant.  He was employed at the Rock Island Arsenal for 31 years, retiring in 1994 as a program analyst.  He enjoyed fishing and golf, and was an active volunteer for 35 years at the John Deere Classic. Survivors include his sons, Greg (Joanne) Stone of Vero Beach, FL, and Brian (Chrisanne) Stone of League City, TX; two sisters; two grandchildren; and one great-grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Patricia.
