Despite her battle with serious medical issues over the last several months, Shirley continually smiled, laughed, and stayed strong until the end.
Shirley was born on August 2, 1934, in Buffalo Prairie, IL to Homer and Mary Brown. Life threw many challenges at Shirley, which she faced with the grit, determination, and toughness that anyone who knew her would come to expect. She will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and friend.
On September 18, 1959, she married Alfred Lee Rogers in Dixon, IL. Al preceded her in death in 1999.
Shirley enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, and her dog, Sadie. She especially cherished the past several years of sharing her life and love with her dear friend, Jack Potter. Jack was always able to put a special smile on Shirley's face. Shirley was active in Girl Scouts when her daughters were young, and she enjoyed teaching Sunday School and singing in the Church choir. She loved flowers, sewing, making crafts, going for walks, and attending live theater. One of her favorite activities was maintaining her winning streak on the slot machines at the local casino.
Shirley will be laid to rest alongside her beloved husband, Al, in the Aledo Cemetery in Aledo, IL.
