Shirley Mccormick

Shirley McCormick, 91, of Moline, passed away at her home on Saturday, February 4, 2023.

Her funeral service will be Monday, February 13, 2023, at 12 pm, with a visitation before the service from 10 am - 12 pm at Wendt Funeral Home, Moline. Burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery, Rock Island, IL.

Shirley was born to Carl and Ethel Ammons in Seymour, IA. She married Jack Kratzberg in 1950 and later married William McCormick in 1977. She worked at the Rock Island Arsenal as an Inventory Manager Specialist for 24 years retiring in 1990. After retiring from the arsenal, Shirley found her true calling; she began painting and took lessons from a well-known local artist, Clara Miller. Shirley soon realized her natural ability and became a very talented artist. Her abstracts and watercolor paintings were displayed throughout the Midwest, gaining her numerous awards. Through the years, she maintained her shop on Etsy until she became ill, selling paintings all over the country. She was still painting until a couple of weeks before her death.

Survivors include her three children, Steven (Brenda) Kratzberg, Hampton, IL, Cheryl (Steven) Ryan, Moline, Michael Kratzberg, Moline; sister, Kathleen (Stu) Stuart, Bel Aire, KS; grandchildren, Alexis Kratzberg, Erik and Ryan Page-Ryan, Steven and Chris Kratzberg, and Jarin and Jessica Kratzberg; great-grandchildren, Katira, Cole, Nathan, Ryder, and Evie, along with many nieces and nephews and her grand-dog, Jake. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, William.

The family would like to thank Genesis hospice, especially Maggie and Bri, for their exceptional care.
