Shirley M. Warren, 83, of Eldridge, IA, formerly of Moline, IL, passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2015, at her home. Visitation will be Friday, July 10th, from 4:00 until 6:00 pm, at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline. Services will be at the funeral home on Saturday, July 11th, at 10:00 am. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens in East Moline, IL. Memorials may be made to Christian Friendliness or Elim Covenant Church in Moline. Shirley Mullen was born in Nevada, IA, on August 4, 1931, to Lester and Audra (Cullum) Mullen. She graduated from Moline High School, and was employed for a time as a secretary at Deere & Company in Moline. On June 3, 1950, in Moline, she married Kenneth Warren, who preceded her in death December 18, 2011. She was a long-standing , active member of Elim Covenant Church, a life-member of the Willard Grade School PTA, a member of the Quad City Conservation Alliance, and a volunteer for many years at Christian Friendliness. She and Ken were avid Moline High School basketball fans, maintaining Maroon season tickets up until his death. Shirley had a passion for bowling and for many years enjoyed being on a team with her daughters, Patty and Debbie. She was a diehard Cubs fan, and she especially enjoyed traveling with Ken to watch midget races. Her biggest joy in life was spending time at her cabin at River of Lakes Resort in Bagley, WI, with her family and friends. Survivors include; two daughters, Patty (Rick) Garrels of Eldridge, IA, and Sandy (Kurt) Freddy of Atkinson, IL; a son, Jim (Phyllis) Warren of Fitchberg, WI; a sister, Joann Nelsen of Moline; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Ken, she was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, two brothers, and a daughter, Debbie.
