Sandra N Ryden

Sandra N. Ryden, 72, of Hampton, IL, passed away Friday, July 18, 2014, at Genesis Medical Center-Illini Campus in Silvis, IL, after a courageous battle with lymphoma cancer. Per her wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. Arrangements are being handled by Wendt Funeral Home in Moline, IL. There will be a Memorial Service Celebration of Life Open House at the Hampton Heritage Center on Wednesday, July 23rd, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Lymphoma Society or to the Salvation Army. Sandy was born in Cedar Rapids, IA, on September 24, 1941, to Elmer and Sylvia (Emery) Nelson. She was the eldest in a loving family with three brothers and two sisters. She graduated from Jefferson High School, and attended Black Hawk College in Moline. On October 28, 1961, in Cedar Rapids, she married A. Jan Ryden, who survives. She was a wonderful homemaker and mother to their three children. She became a Realtor in the last few years, and delighted in helping a young couple find their first home. She was renowned for her honesty and high ethics. In addition to her husband, Jan, survivors include: her father, Elmer Nelson of Scroggins, TX; sons, Brad (Nancy) Ryden of Moorestown, NJ, and Eric (Dawn Newton) Ryden of Moline; daughter, Jena (Joe) Benik in Allen, TX; and five grandchildren: Elyse and Alec Ryden in Moorestown, NJ, Justin and Jennifer Ryden in Ormond Beach, FL, and Katherine Benik in Allen, TX.
