Ruth Marjorie Bartleson

Ruth Bartleson, 83, of East Moline, IL, passed away Friday, July 5, 2013, at UnityPoint Trinity in Rock Island, IL. Visitation will be Sunday, July 7th, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., at First Presbyterian Church, 777 - 25th Avenue, East Moline. Services will be Monday, July 8th, at 10:00 a.m., at the church, with burial in Oakwood Cemetery in Macomb, IL. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church in East Moline. Ruth Marjorie Long was born in Moline on June 14, 1930, to S. E. and Florence (Bishop) Long. On December 21, 1950, in East Moline, she married George "Cork" Bartleson, who preceded her in death in 1956. Ruth graduated from East Moline's United Township High School, in 1948, and received her teaching degree from Augustana College in Rock Island. She was a guidence councelor at UTHS for 38 years, retiring in 1999. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in East Moline, and was active in the Sunday School, and sang in the church choir most of her life. She enjoyed spending time with her granddaughters. She was their biggest fan, and never missed a game, concert, or any activity in which they participated. She especially enjoyed the time spent during family vacations to Lido Beach in Sarasota, FL. Survivors include, son Gregory (Diane) Bartleson, and granddaughters Emily and Elizabeth Bartleson, all of East Moline; a sister, Winnie (Bill) Campbell of Glenview, IL; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
