Ruby Thennis

Ruby Thennis, 80, of Moline, IL, died Monday, February 15, 2010, at Amber Ridge Memory Care Center in Moline. Visitation will be at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline, on Wednesday, February 17th, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., with a Prayer Service beginning at 7:00. Services will be Thursday, February 18th, at 10:30 a.m., at the funeral home. Burial will be in Moline Memorial Park Cemetery in Moline. Memorials may be made to the family. Ruby Jean Vestal was born November 17, 1929, to Noah and Rosa (Thomas) Vestal in Mystic, IA She married Robert L. Thennis on October 16, 1951, in Topeka, KS. He preceded her in death May 1, 2003. She had been employed by Jerry's Market in Moline, and the Moline National Bank. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Moline, and enjoyed music and working in her yard, and especially loved her grandkids. Survivors include, children: Robert (Donna) Thennis of Davenport, IA, Roberta Peterson of Moline, Rhonda (Tony) Ceurvorst of Moline, and Randall (Cindy) Thennis of Davenport; brothers: Richard, Russell, and Jerry Vestal; grandchildren: Ashley and Noah Thennis, Sarah Fulkerson, Craig and Scott Peterson, Kelly Fleming, Jen, Daniel, Katlyn, Tony, and Hannah Ceurvorst, Jacob, Jackee, and Jordon Salmonson, Corey Cusper, and Erica Jansen; and great-grandchildren: Hailey and Kendall Fulkerson, Tyler Hamilton-Ceurvorst, Miranda Capper-Ceurvorst, and Logan Fleming. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Glen Vestal, and a son-in-law, Chuck Peterson. The family wishes to convey their appreciation to the staff, and to the friends that Ruby made, during her stay at Amber Ridge. Their thoughtfulness and kindness will never be forgotten.
