Roy Hathcock, 83, of Moline, IL, passed away Thursday, October 27, 2016, at Rosewood Care Center in Moline. A visitation will be held Sunday, October 30th, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline. Services will be held Tuesday, November 1st, in Ava, MO, at the Mt. Taber Baptist Church, with burial in the Mt. Taber Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to the American Heart Association. Roy Clifton Hathcock was born in Ava, MO, on September 10, 1933, son of Mackey and Mabel (Smith) Hathcock. On July 12, 1963, in Ava, he married Dawn Pueppke. They were later divorced. Roy served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He began employment in 1954 in a furniture factory in Missouri. He was self-employed as an upholsterer for forty-four years before retiring in 2008. Survivors include his son, Scot C. Hathcock, and daughter, Aynn D. (Tim) Chandler, all of Moline; brother, Trellis Hathcock, and sister, Wilma Mielke, both of Strafford, MO; and grandchildren, Matthew and Kelsey Chandler. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Pernie Adams Hathcock, and two brothers, Willard and Martin Hathcock.
