Rosalie "Rose" F. McCombs, 96, of Moline, IL, went home to be with her Lord, on Saturday, March 29, 2008. She died at Trinity Medical Center West in Rock Island, IL. Arrangements were handled by Wendt Funeral Home in Moline. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, April 16th, at Edgewood Baptist Church, 2704-38th St., Rock Island. Visitation will be at the church from 9:30 a.m. until time of the services. Following the services, there will be a private family luncheon, with burial at Western Cemetery in Orion, IL. Memorials may be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association or the St. Judes Childrens Research Hospital. Rose was born on May 14, 1911, in Orion, IL, the daughter of Ralph and Charlotte "Lottie" Richardson. She attended school in Orion, and graduated from Orion High School. She spent much of her childhood traveling with her parents and grandparents in her grandmother Jessie Colton's, repertoire theater. She was a child actress who continued with the theater into her high school years. She never lost her love of the theater, and carried it into various aspects of her life. She loved music, and was a member of several church choirs. She was active in the Moline Senior Citizen Center, and directed their choir, The Silver Liners, for several years. Rose married her high school sweetheart, Raymond (Mac) McCombs, and they had two children, Fanchon and Grant. She had eight loving grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church in Rock Island. She loved to sew, and at one time, made all of the choir robes for Augustana College. She was an excellent cook, and catered many parties, including lavish dinners for the Rock Island Arsenal Commander. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one grandson, and a son-in-law.
