Roma Jean Medd

Roma J. Medd, 80, of Bettendorf, IA. passed away after a long battle with Alzheimers, on Thursday, December 22, 2011, at Manor Care Utica Ridge in Davenport, IA. A visitation will be held Tuesday, December 27th, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline, IL. Services will be held Wednesday, December 28th, at 11:a.m., at First Free Church, 3321 - 7th Street, Moline. Burial will be in Moline Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Free Church in Moline, or to the Scott County Humane Society in Davenport, IA. Roma Jean Melin was born in Moline, on September 10, 1931, to Carl and Dorothea (Charlberg) Melin. She married Ronald A. Medd on July 15, 1950, in Galesburg, IL. She was a graduate of Moline High School, and after high school, was employed for a time by Bituminous Company, and by Dairy Queen at North Park. Roma was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a graduate of Bible Study Fellowship, White Cross at First Free Church, Bible Study Leader, and was a Sunday School and Vacation Bible School teacher. She was a Brownie Troop Leader, and was a friend to all she met. Her hobbies were cooking, sewing, gardening, music, and making a beautiful home. Those left to honor her memory include: her devoted, loving husband, Ron; her daughters: Gail (Robert) Seyfried of Raleigh, NC, Susan Medd Priest of Bettendorf, IA; Peggy (David) Goodwin of Corinth, TX, and Mindy (Tod Williams) Koehler of Bettendorf; her beloved grandchildren: Kyle (Amy) Priest, Kevin (Melissa) Koehler, Kindred (Ingrid Michaelson) Priest, Jeff (Amy) Koehler, Karle (Garrett) Lindorfer, Meredith Seyfried, and Marcus Goodwin; her great-grandchildren: Elizabeth, Olivia, Andrea, Ella, Aidan, Sophia, Samantha, and Theron; her sister: Nola Hopp; her brother: Jon (Rita) Melin; her special friend: Jean Baker of California; and her beloved dogs, "Blizzard" and "Sissy". She was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister, Marlo Ogden.
