Robert Ray Geiger

Robert R. Geiger, 76, of Orion, IL, passed away Saturday, October 28, 2017, at his home. Visitation will be Tuesday, October 31st, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline, IL. Services will be Wednesday, November 1st, at 11:00 a.m., at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens in East Moline, IL. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to a no-kill animal shelter of the donor’s choice. Bob was born June 26, 1941, in Moline, son of John P. and Margaret (Hogue) Geiger. On September 27, 1958, he married Sheila Joles, who survives. He was employed in machinery maintenance for Deere & Company for thirty-two years, retiring in 1996. While working for Deere & Company, he served as a Henry County Deputy Sheriff for ten years, and Auxiliary Deputy Sheriff for twenty years. He was a member of the Svithoid Club, the East End Club, and Friends Circle. Bob was an avid golfer. He also enjoyed flower gardening, hunting, fishing, boating, camping, and traveling with his family. In addition to his wife, Sheila, survivors include his daughter, Debra Jones of Hampton, IL; his sister, Sandra VanBesien of Hampton, IL; six grandchildren: Jennifer, Jeremy, Brian, Emily, Jessica, and Elizabeth; and fourteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Jack Geiger, and his son, David Geiger.
