Robert M Owens

Robert M. Owens, 82, of Rock Island, IL, died Wednesday, November 12, 2008, at Trinity Medical Center West in Rock Island. Visitation will be Friday, November 14th, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Wendt Funeral Home in Moline, IL. Services will be Saturday, November 15th, at 10:00 a.m., at the funeral home. Burial will be in Andalusia Cemetery in Andalusia, IL. Memorials may be made to the Arthritis Foundation or to the Parkinsons Disease Foundation. Robert Milton Owens was born June 18, 1926, in Andalusia, to Albert and Lavina (Anderson) Owens. He retired from Iowa-Illinois Gas & Electric Company, beginning employment as a meter reader, and later working in the gas meter repair shop. He enjoyed ballroom dancing and traveling, and worked well with his hands, especially when painting cars. Survivors include: three daughters: Julianne Carey of Davenport, IA, Pamela Owens of Rock Island, and Sandra (Henry) Reimers of Davenport; a son: Douglas Owens of Coal Valley, IL; two sisters: Betty (Chuck) Johnson, and Margie Nagel, both of Mesa, AZ; a brother: Arno (Beatrice) Owens of Woodhull, IL; nine grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers: Albert, Edward, and Willard Owens.
