Robert L. Rumler, Sr, 69, of Moline, IL, passed away Sunday, October 18, 2009, at his home. Per his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. There will be a private family service, and then a Celebration of Life for all friends and family, held Saturday, October 24th, at 2:00 p.m., at the Croation Club in Moline. Memorials may be made to Quad City Animal Welfare Center in Milan, IL. Robert Lee Rumler was born in Moline on September 15, 1940, to William and Grace (Samuelson) Rumler. On February 28, 1959, in Moline, he married Carmen Lopez, who survives. He retired in 1984 from the former International Harvester Farmall Works in Rock Island, IL. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and woodworking, and he loved his animals. In addition to his wife, Carmen, survivors include: a daughter: Julie (Larry DeSmet) Rumler; sons: Darren (Patty) Rumler, and Robert Rumler, Jr, all of Moline; sisters: JoAnn (Warren) Jennings of East Moline and Janice Aitken of Rock Island; brothers: Don (Delores) Rumler of Bloomington, WI, Ken (Lois) Rumler of Moline, and Gary Rumler of Sherrard, IL; six grandchildren: Jennifer (Dave) Thorndyke, Matt (Amber) Rumler, Natalie Rumler, Wayne DeSmet, Caley Rumler and Amy (Brandon) Vittitow; and ten great-grandchildren: Kasey, Ethan, Haily, Julian, Amelia, Vaunah, Isaac, Alexis, Brinlee, and Carlie. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, and four brothers.
