Robert "Bob" Sutherland, 56, of Moline, IL, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 8, 2009. Visitation will be Thursday, March 12th, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline. Services will be Friday, March 13th, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in National Cemetery on Arsenal Island at Rock Island, IL. Military Rites will be accorded by American Legion Post #246 of Moline. Memorials may be made to the Childrens' Miracle Network at Wal-Mart. Robert J. Sutherland was born in Sandwich, IL, on December 18, 1952, to Robert W. and Marion (Lett) Sutherland. On July 8, 1999, in Aledo, IL, he married Sharon Whitaker, who survives. He attended schools in the Aledo and Galesburg areas, and served in the U.S. Army from 1975 to 1981. For the past nine years, he was employed by Miller's Classic Carpet Care in Moline. In addition to his wife and his mother, survivors are; two daughters: Christina Newsome and Kimberly Sutherland, both of Florida; two stepsons: Sean (Theresa) Jacobsmeier of Davenport, IA, and Todd Jacobsmeier of Portland, OR; a sister: Ruth (Marvin Drowns) Sutherland of Aledo, IL; two brothers: Randy Sutherland of Dallas, TX, and Richard Sutherland of Davenport; a step-granddaughter: Ambrosia Jacobsmeier of Portland, OR; a step-grandson: Benjamin "Buddy" Jacobsmeier of Davenport; and a nephew: Will Drowns of Aledo, IL. He was preceded in death by his father and his grandparents.
