Robert "Bob" Hearn, 76, of Silvis, IL, formerly of Moline, IL, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 19, 2008, at Rosewood Care Center in Moline. Robert J. Hearn was born on July 22, 1931 in Moline, to Melvin and Gertrude (Benson) Hearn. He married Betty Crump on October 13, 1967, in Moline. Bob served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a fireman and fire inspector for the Moline Fire Department from March 15, 1965 until April 19, 1991. He then served as Moline's interim fire chief from February 7, 1994 to June 13, 1995. He was a member of American Legion Post 246, Masonic Lodge 1014 Valley of Moline Scottish Rite, Fire Fighters Union Local 581, and the 2nd Alarmers. He attended Eagle Summit Community Church, Colona, IL. Visitation will be held Friday, July 25th, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline, with a Masonic Service at 7:30 p.m. Services will Saturday, July 26th, at 10:00 A.M. at the funeral home with the Honor Guard from the Moline Fire Department in attendance. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens in East Moline, IL. In leiu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Moline Fire Department Local 581 Memorial Fund. He is survived by his wife, Betty; four children: Thomas (Jenifer) Hearn of Lawrenceville, IL, Diana (Tom) Cotton of Silvis, IL, Sherry Keeler of Palmetto, FL, and Heather (Steve) Walker of Moline; a brother, Rollin Hearn of Moline; a sister, Rosemary Hendricks of Moline; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Richard Hearn.
