Robert Evans

Robert “Bob” Evans, 71, of Moline, IL, died Monday, July 13, 2015, at UnityPoint-Trinity West in Rock Island, IL. A private family service will be held. Friends may call from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Thursday, July 16th, at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alleman Booster Boy Football Club. Bob was born in New Orleans, LA, on March 8, 1944, to Robert and Nora Evans. On June 6, 1987, in Coal Valley, IL, he married Darla K. Swanson, who survives. He retired in 2013 as Director of Baseball Operations for the River Bandits Organization in Davenport, IA. For twenty-five years, Bob coached boys’ football for the Alleman Boosters. He enjoyed attending all of his grandchildren’s activities. He was a member of the Oakwood County Club in Coal Valley, an avid golfer, and was a loyal fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and the Green Bay Packers. He especially enjoyed traveling with his wife, Darla. In addition to his wife, Darla, survivors include daughters, Jackie (Ed) Kernan of Kewanee, IL, Jennifer (Brian) Walker of Edgington, IL, Jami (Jerrod) Mattingly of Viola, IL, Kelli (Bryan) Dunn of Normal, IL, Jessica (Andy) Evans of Woodridge, IL, and Jody (Tim) Layton of San Antonio, TX; sons Robert Joe (Kathy) Evans of East Moline, IL, Brad Evans of Temecula, CA, and Rob (Cathleen) Vegter of Morrison, IL; a brother Jeffery (Sue) Evans of Naperville, IL; and twenty-three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter Julie, and a granddaughter Hailey.
