Robert Elsworth Allport

Robert E. Allport, 68, of Colona, IL, passed away Friday, May 27, 2023, at River Crossing, Moline, IL. Cremation rites will be accorded.

Robert was born October 3, 1954, the son of Robert Earl Allport and Helen Chrisman Allport. He graduated from Senn High School, Chicago, IL in 1973. His career was spent in the coal mines of West Virginia and on the Tunnel Project in Chicago.

Robert cherished spending time with his grandchildren, who brought so much joy and light into his life. He loved nothing more than watching them grow and learn, and was always eager to hear about their latest adventures and accomplishments.

Robert had a number of interests that brought him great joy throughout his life. He was an avid fisherman and spent many hours out on the water, enjoying the peace and tranquility of the outdoors. He was also a dedicated fan of the Chicago Cubs and the Bears, and loved nothing more than cheering on his favorite teams. His other enjoyments included hot rods and muscle cars.

But perhaps Robert's greatest passion was his desire to help others. He was known for his kind and generous spirit, and was always willing to lend a hand to those in need. His kindness and generosity touched many lives, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his children, Okie Davis-Knowles, Rockford, IL and Lucas Allport, Bettendorf, IA; grandchildren, Alyssa Allport, Madison Allport, Trevor Allport, Ezra and Austin Knowles; sister, Gloria Allport, WI; brothers, Fredrick "Scotty," Melvin, Jesse, and Robert; Step-sisters, Diane, Annette, Peggy and Joyce, WI; nephew, Bobby Allport.
