Robert E Cooksey

Robert E. Cooksey, 64, of Moline, IL, died Friday, October 13, 2017, at his home. Cremation rites will be accorded. A graveside service at National Cemetery on Arsenal Island, Rock Island, IL, will be held Tuesday, October 17th, at 10:30 a.m. Those wishing to attend the service should be at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline, by 10:15 a.m. to be included in the procession. Immediately after the burial there will be a reception held at the East Moline American Legion. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. Robert was born July 15, 1953, in Davenport, IA, the son of Ella Mae (Slocum) Cooksey. He served in the U.S. Army from 1970 to 1973. He was a self-employed barber, and later worked as a custodian for the East Moline School District. He loved nature and the outdoors, and enjoyed telling jokes. Survivors include sons, Robert (Lisa) Cooksey of Rock Falls, IL, and Joseph (Rachael) Cooksey of Moline; daughters, Stormy (Sean) Hicks of Moline, Crystal (Carlos) Gonzalez of Moline, Danielle (Joe) Brown of Moline, and Jessica Cooksey of Fulton, IL; sisters, Sandra Cooksey of East Moline, IL, Jackie Ackley of Texas, and Melody Ackley of Arkansas; fourteen grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Carol, Rebecca, Carla, and a brother, Merle.
