Richard W. Sheldon

Richard W. “Dick” Sheldon, 67, of Moline, IL, passed away Thursday, June 14, 2018, at his home. Services will be held Monday, June 18 th , at 5:00 p.m., at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline, with a two-hour visitation prior to the services, beginning at 3:00 p.m. Cremation rites will then be accorded.  Inurnment will be in Coal Valley Cemetery, Coal Valley, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. Richard Wayne Sheldon was born October 4, 1950, in Geneseo, IL, son of Ralph V. and Marjorie M. (Hugart) Sheldon.  On October 3, 1998, in Moline’s Prospect Park, he married the love of his life, Debbie A. Cox. Dick was employed in Maintenance for Deere & Company for thirty years, last working in 2006.  He was a member of Eagles Lodge 1839 of Carbon Cliff, IL.  In Apache Junction, AZ, he was a member of American Legion Post 27, Moose Lodge 1127, and the V.F.W. 9399.  He enjoyed relaxing in his back yard in Moline, with his dog, “Puppers”, and loved wintering in Apache Junction, AZ. In addition to his wife, Debbie, survivors include his mother, Marjorie Sheldon of Hillsdale, IL; a daughter, Amy (John) Wietting of East Moline, IL; sons, Darin (Kelly) Sheldon of Hillsdale, IL, Jason (Nicole) Ogle, and Justin Ogle, all of Moline; a brother William C. (Patte) Sheldon of Apache Junction, AZ; sisters-in-law, Debbie Sheldon of Hillsdale, IL, Roberta (John) James of Coal Valley, IL, and Rosie (Kevin) Baker of Andalusia, IL; and two grandsons, Austin and Logan Wietting. He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Sheldon, and a brother, Steven Sheldon.
