Richard Paul Rudolph

Richard "Dick" Rudolph, 84, of Moline, IL, passed away Saturday, December 14, 2013, at his home, with his family at his side. Per his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. A memorial service will be held Thursday, December 19th, at 11:00 a.m., at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline, with visitation from 9 a.m. until time of the service. Interment will be in National Cemetery, Arsenal Island, Rock Island, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Homewood Evangelical Free Church, 3303 - 60th Street, Moline, IL 61265. Richard P. Rudolph was born in Floral Park, NY, on March 10, 1929, to Arthur and Viola (Horning) Rudolph. On September 20, 1969, in Chicago, he married Fredrica Zellars, who survives. Dick graduated from Northfield Mount Hermon Prep School in Mount Hermon, Massachusetts, and attended Long Island University in New York. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1950 to 1954. He was employed by the U.S. Army, and retired in May of 1985, as Chief of the Armament Material Readiness Command, Fuse and Warhead Branch of Munitions Production Quality Operations. He enjoyed antique collecting, building and repairing watches and clocks, and was a lover of classical music. Dick could fix anything and everything, and did so very lovingly, for family and friends. He was a member of the Homewood Evangelical Free Church in Moline, and of the Over-The-Hill-Gang Coffee Goup. In addition to his wife, "Freddie", survivors include: daughter: Paula Adkins of Bowling Green, KY; sons: Arthur (Maureen) Rudolph of Charlotte, NC, and Jeff (Jan) Rudolph of Iowa City, IA; stepdaughter: Jane (Russ) Battersby; stepson: James (Paula) Severe; sister: Jean Logomarsini of Long Island, NY; eleven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and the members of the Over-The-Hill-Gang Coffee Group. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a granddaughter: Marie Severe. A special thanks is sent to special friends, Dr. Alex Pareigis of Moline, and Dr. William Silverman of Iowa City.
