Richard “Dick” Campbell, 79, of Geneseo, was surrounded by his family when he passed on November 2, 2022. He was a headstrong man until the very end.
Dick was born August 19, 1943, in Rock Island to Gene G. and Anna B (Janssens) Campbell. There he grew up with his two brothers (Donald and Edward).
After graduating from Rock Island High School in 1962, he went to work at Service Rubber Company, where several family members were employed. He soon moved to John Deere, where he remained for 35 years until his retirement. He was proud to be a working man and rarely missed a day of work in those 35 years.
As a young man, he met Glennda Turner. They were married in 1964 and had four children and five grandchildren.
Dick maintained a lifelong love of working on cars, woodworking, watching western reruns, and, most importantly, he enjoyed watching movies and making waffles with his granddaughters.
He is preceded by his parents, his brothers Donald and Edward, and his best friend, Larry Speckhart. He is survived by his wife, Glennda, children Julie Bradley (Scott Bradley), R. Michael Campbell, Steven Campbell (Sarah Campbell), Jennifer (Chad Weinzierl), and granddaughters, Skylar Bradley, Chelsea Bradley, Quinne Weinzierl, Rylee Weinzierl, and Dru Weinzierl.
