Richard G Tolson

Richard G. Tolson, age 78, of Moline, IL, passed away Saturday, May 13, 2017, at Rosewood Care Center in Moline. Services will be Monday, May 22nd, at 11:00 a.m., at Wendt Funeral Home, with a one-hour visitation prior to the service, beginning at 10. Burial will be in Moline Memorial Park Cemetery in Moline. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. Richard was born June 3, 1938, in Urbana, IL, to Glen S. and Mertyl (Groves) Tolson. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve. He married Kay Hevertz on April 16, 1979, in Las Vegas, NV, who preceded him in death in 2016. He was last employed as a grounds caretaker at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Los Angeles, CA. Earlier in life, he was employed by Western Technologies and ATI in Orange County, CA, and as a supervisor at L.A. Yellow Cab Company in Los Angeles. Recently, he has served as a Hunter Safety Instructor for the State of Illinois. He was a member of Calvary Church of the Quad Cities in Moline. Survivors include: daughters, Autumn Susanna Hanbas of Portland, OR, and Sherry Brun of Goldsborough, NC; son Eric Tolson serving in the U.S. Air Force; sisters, Doris Williams of Sacramento, CA, and Nancy Dennison of Orlando, FL; twenty-five grandchildren, and twenty-five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kay, his parents and a son, Bill.
