Richard F. “Dick” Gallens, 87, of Moline, IL, passed away Wednesday, June 8, 2016, at his home. Private family services were held Monday, June 13th, at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline, with burial in Rose Lawn Memorial Estates in Moline. Memorials may be made to the family. Dick was born in Moline on May 31, 1929, to Camiel and Helen (Erickson) Gallens. On July 16, 1955, in Moline, he married Greta Miles, who survives. After attending Moline High School, he serviced in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Dick was employed in the experimental department at John Deere Company, retiring in 1987 after 38 years. He was a talented machinist, and there wasn’t anything that he couldn’t build or fix. He enjoyed relaxing in his front yard watching traffic go by, and he and Greta loved vacationing in Ft. Myers Beach, FL. In addition to his wife, Greta, survivors include daughter, Diana (Tim) Krakovec; son, David (Dawn) Gallens; and grandchildren, Kristen, Nick, Heather, Allison, and Shawn.
