Richard Durward Stout

Richard D, Stout, 80, of Moline, IL, died Monday, February 17, 2014, at his home. Per his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. There will be no services. Arrangements are being handled by Wendt Funeral Home in Moline. Memorials may be made to UnityPoint Hospice, 106 - 19th Avenue, Suite 101, Moline, IL 61265. Richard Durward Stout was born in Carson City, MI, on November 15, 1933, to George D. and Lucile B.(Baldwin) Stout. In Greenville, MI, on April 21, 1956, he married Shirley Jean Beardslee, who survives. He attended the Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD, and graduated from Michigan State University in 1960. He worked in construction and manufacturing, before starting his own company, Spartan Manufacturing Company, in the early '90's. He retired in 2007. He was an avid Michigan State football fan, and he especially enjoyed attending his grandchildrens' sporting events. In addition to his wife, Shirley, survivors include: daughters, Debra Stout of Greenville, MI, Pamela (David) King of East Moline, IL, and Sheila (John) Burden of Sandy Hook, CT; a sister, Joan (John) Ingersoll of Sahuarita, AZ; a brother, James (Nan Anderson) Stout of Chicago, IL; grandchildren, Nicholas King, Katie (Howard) Davis, Allison Vance, Jacob Burden, and Spencer Burden; great-grandchildren, Braedon King and Howard Davis III; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
