Raymond Simon Dekker

Raymond Dekker, 92, of Moline, IL, died Friday, November 12, 2010, at Genesis Medical Center-Illini Campus in Silvis, IL. Services will be Friday, November 19th, at 11:00 a.m., at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline, with a visitation for one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Moline Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. Raymond Simon Dekker was born in Chicago, IL, on June 21, 1918, to Simon and Agnes (Bult) Dekker. On November 28, 1949, in Rock Island, IL, he married Elva Virginia Ross, who preceded him in death in 1978. He graduated from Augustana College in Rock Island, IL, and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a Designer-Draftsman at Beling Engineering, and he enjoyed aviation and gardening. Survivors include: a daughter: Dr. Judith Siebert of Iowa City, IA; two sons: James Dekker of Iowa City, and Dr. John Dekker of Kankakee, IL; a sister: Lillian Laughlin of East Moline; and three grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, a brother: Robert Dekker, and a grandchild, Eric.
