Raymond Franklin Reeves

March 31, 1933 — December 18, 2024

Raymond F. Reeves, 91, of East Moline, IL, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2024, at Genesis Medical Center Illini Campus in Silvis, IL, surrounded by his loved ones.

Born on March 31, 1933, in Williamson, IA, Raymond was the cherished son of Riley and Eva (Hill) Reeves. He shared a beautiful life with his wife, Barbara Spaulding, who preceded him in death on September 20, 1996.

Raymond had a dedicated career as a foreman for Montgomery Elevator Company, retiring in 1983, and later worked for Per Mar Security. A proud and honorable veteran, he served his country in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1959 and the U.S. Air Force from 1959 to 1961, achieving the rank of SPE 4.

Raymond embraced life with enthusiasm and a sense of humor. He loved visiting casinos, playing poker, and watching football—especially cheering on the Green Bay Packers. He also found joy in fishing, bowling in leagues, and the lighthearted moments brought by his fondness for *SpongeBob SquarePants*.

Above all, Raymond cherished his family. He leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth in his children: Mabel Reeves of Silvis, IL; Orlena (Sidney) Carr of Moline, IL; Raymond (Karen) Reeves Jr. of East Moline, IL; William (Dena) Reeves of Arlington, TX; Tammy (Paul) Byrd of Silvis, IL; Timmy (Dawn) Reeves of Seymour, MO; Eva Reeves of Moline, IL; Annette (James) Carter of East Moline, IL; Roberta (Jim) Prindle of Napa, CA; and Ramona Moyes of Oklahoma. He was a proud grandfather to 25 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, and he will also be dearly missed by his sister, Mary Reeves of Milan, IL.

A graveside service honoring Raymond’s life will be held at Rock Island National Cemetery on Monday, December 30, 2024, at 11:30 am. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline at 11:15 am.
