Ralph Bailey Turner, age 81, of Moline, IL. died on Monday, June 11, 2007, at his home. Ralph Bailey Turner was born on December 6, 1925, to Joseph and Francis (Hirsch) Turner in Gatesville, TX. He married Helen B. Gritton on September 6, 1969, in Erie, IL. He served in the Army during WWII. He was employed as a Road Maintainer for the Illinois D.O.T. for 19 years, retiring in 1989. Ralph enjoyed gardening, fishing, country western and gospel music, and his pick-up truck, and he especially loved his dog, Buttercup. Services will be held on Thursday, June 14, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. at the Wendt Funeral Home in Moline. Visitation will be on Thursday, June 14th, from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service. Military Rites will be accorder by American Legion Post #246 of Moline. Burial will take place at National Cemetery at the Rock Island Arsenal. Survivors include: his wife: Helen; two daughters: Mary Beth and Susan Turner, and two sons: Larry and Ronnie Turner, all of the state of Texas; one stepson: Darin (Debbie) Gritton of Moline, IL.; one sister: Ethel Barton of Gatesville, TX.; two granddaughters: Amy Gritton and Lindsay Gritton, and one grandson: Cory Gritton, all of Moline, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, and one brother.
