Prentis B Osborn

Prentis Osborn, 80, of East Moline, IL, died Thursday, October 16, 2008, at Rosewood Care Center in Moline, IL. Visitation will be held Monday, October 20th, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline, IL. Services will be held Tuesday, October 21st, at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in National Cemetery on Arsenal Island, Rock Island, IL, with Military Rites accorded by American Legion Post 246. Memorials may be made to Victory Baptist Church in East Moline, IL. Prentis B. Osborn was born July 18, 1928, to Murry and Lela (Poore) Osborn in Guin, AL. On December 25, 1948, in East Moline, he married Mona L. Dickinson, who preceded him in death on March 22, 2001. He served in the Navy from 1951 to 1955, during the Korean Conflict, and was honorably discharged, having attained the rank of Machinist Mate Third Class. Prentis, with his wife, Mona, owned and operated the former Uptown Appliance Store in Moline, IL, for over 45 years. He attended the Victory Baptist Church, enjoyed traveling and taking drives, and was devoted to his family. Survivors include: a daughter, Wanda (Craig) Wright of Moline; and a grandson, Kris Poling of Moline. He was preceded in death by his wife and his parents.
