Phyllis Mcfarland Shaw

Phyllis McFarland Shaw, 79, of Moline, IL, died Tuesday, October 5, 2010, at Genesis Medical Center Illini Campus in Silvis, IL. Visitation will be Friday, October 8th, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline. Services will be held there on Saturday, October 9th, at 10:30 a.m. Cremation rites will then be accorded after the funeral services. Inurnment will follow, at a later date, in the Hampton (IL) Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Illini Hospital Foundation. Phyllis Rentz was born in Moline on June 18, 1931, to James Allan and Elizabeth (LaGrange) Rentz. In 1950, she married Jesse McFarland, and had three children. In 2003, she married her best friend, Don Shaw. Phyllis and Don shared seven wonderful years together. She attended schools in Erie and Moline, IL, graduating from high school in 1949. In 1993, she retired from Wagner Printers in Davenport, where she was employed for more than 20 years. Phyllis was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in East Moline, and enjoyed holidays, baking, and traveling. She always loved gatherings with family and friends, and especially enjoyed spending time with her siblings. In addition to her husband, Don, survivors include a daughter: Melodie (Michael) Beedlow of Silvis, IL; two sons: Jeffrey (Caroline Byrne) McFarland of Rapid City, IL, and Kevin (Julie) McFarland of Naples, FL; two sisters: Edye (Vic) Pearson of Bettendorf, IA, and Jeanne Jahn of Moline, IL; a brother: Jim (Cheryl) Rentz of Prophetstown, IL; and a grandson: Ryan Anderson of Scottsdale, AZ. She was preceded in death by her parents.
