Phillip A Mckay

Phillip A. McKay, 61, of East Moline, IL, passed away Tuesday, January 20, 2015, at UnityPoint/Trinity West in Rock island. A visitation will be held Saturday, January 24th, at 11:00 a.m. at the Community of Christ Church, 1525 – 48th Street Place in Moline, IL, followed by a memorial service at noon. Phillip was born in Moline on December 28, 1953. He attended Garfield Elementary, John Deere Junior High, and Moline High School where he was a three-year varsity letterman in basketball. Phillip went on to attend University of Dubuque on a basketball scholarship. He then transferred to Northern Illinois University where he completed his undergraduate work. He graduated from Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine in 1980. He was a member of the American Dental Association and practiced dentistry in Elgin, IL. Phillip was an athlete who loved to play multiple sports, but had a particular passion for golf. He was preceded in death by parents, Phillip Norman and Mary Ellen (Kauffman) McKay. He was married to Jan Winter-McKay in 1983. She also preceded him in death in 2010. He is survived by his sisters Cyndee McKay-Lynch of Martinez, GA, and Judith (Keith) Wells of Kissimmee, FL. The family gratefully acknowledges the support, love, and lifelong friendship of Marcia Youngvorst. Memorials may be made to The Community of Christ Church in Moline, where Phillip was a member.
