Paula Franks, 51, of Moline, IL, lost her courageous battle with cancer on Thursday, November 27, 2008, at Trinity Medical Center West in Rock Island, IL. Services will be held on Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at Wendt Funeral Home, Moline, IL. Visitation will be Monday, December 1st, from 3 p.m to 7 p.m. at Wendt Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be established at a later date. Paula was born on March 1, 1957 in Moline, IL to Walter and Charlene (Buckles) VanLerberghe. On May 7, 1983, she married Donald Franks in Moline. She was employed, throughout her life, at McCabe's Department Store, Ponderosa Steak House, Iowa-Illinois Gas & Electric Company, Servus Rubber, Quad-City Times, Leslie Paper Company, and Mallardtone Games Calls. Paula was a member of the Friends Circle Club of Moline, and was an avid archer. Paula was the past President of Garfield PTA, and a member of John Deere PTA, the secretary of the Moline Junior Football League, and a member of Friends of Moline Softball. She enjoyed watching her kids participate in sports, spending time in Chicago, visiting beaches, and doing crafts. Survivors include: her husband: Donald Franks, of Moline; two daughters: Kathleen "Turf" Franks and Lindsay Franks, both of Moline; a son: Donald Franks of Moline; a step-daughter: Meaghan (Bill) Ortscheid of Davenport, IA; two sisters: Teresa (Rick) Saltsman and Linda (Dale) Muller, both of Rock Island; three grandchildren: Haylee, Brandon and Blake. She was preceeded in death by her parents.
