Paula Fernandez

Paula Fernandez, 72, of Orion, IL, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at her home on Friday, January 28th, 2022, at 3:20 pm.

On Monday, January 31st, 2022, visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 pm at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline, IL. Services will be Tuesday, February 1st, 2022, at 11:00 am with a visitation one hour prior at Wendt Funeral Home 1811 15th Street Pl. Moline, IL 61265. Burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery, Rock Island.

The family requests that all memorials be made with flowers or plants.

Paula was born November 2nd, 1949, in East Prairie, MO, daughter of Lee Roy and Anna (Ledbetter) Crisel. She married the love of her life, Fernando Fernandez on January 29, 2001, who survives.

Paula was a graduate of Moline High School. She spent most of her career serving others, whether in the food industry or the construction industry. She worked at Caterpillar, managed HEB food stores, and she and Fernando owned a Dollar Store in Texas. Later she and Fernando proudly accomplished owning their own company, Fernandez Trucking. Paula enjoyed gardening, canning, and playing the family marble board game that was a long-held tradition of her family, but most of all, she loved spending time with her husband and grandchildren.

In addition to her spouse, Fernando, survivors include her children; Lora Staken, Milan, IL, Tammy Berube, Milan, IL, Mark (Amy) Hunter, Coal Valley, IL, Jennifer (Dan) Lees, Orion, IL; brothers, Terry (Vicki) Crisel, Keithsburg, IL, Jeff (Geraldine) Crisel, Moline, IL, along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lee Roy and Anna Crisel; brothers, Randy, Lee Roy Jr., Gary and David Crisel, as well as a sister, Connie.
