Pat Johnson

Pat Johnson, 79, of Moline, IL, died August 9, 2010, at Trinity Pathway Hospice in Bettendorf, IA. Per her wishes, she was cremated. A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 14th, at 11:00 a.m. at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline, with a one-hour visitation prior to the service. The burial will be at National Cemetery on Arsenal Island in Rock Island. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Pathway Hospice. Myrtle Eloise "Pat" Mains was born in Waukon, MN, on September 8, 1930, to Soren and Caroline (Schnoor) Mains. On August 22, 1953, in Moline, she married Virtus B. Johnson, who preceded her in death July 17, 1993. Pat had the honor, from 1975 to 1983, of being the first woman to serve on the Moline City Council, and was the first woman president of the Northwest Municipal League. She enjoyed camping and golf, and loved spending time with family and friends. Survivors include: two sons: Craig (Wendy) Johnson of Engelwood, CO, and Gary (Kathy) Johnson of Jacksonville, FL; four grandchildren: Hailey Johnson, Daniel Johnson, Erik Johnson , and Jason (Dana) Johnson; one brother: Walter Mains of Clinton, IA; and very special friend: Marvin Schiess of Moline. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a son, one sister, and two brothers.
