Norman Kent Jones

Norman Kent Jones, 89, of Milan, IL, passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at Genesis Medical Center, Silvis, IL.

A private family graveside service will be held with no other services scheduled.

Memorials may be made to South Park Presbyterian Church, Rock Island, IL, where he had been an active member since 1963.

Kent was born July 26, 1933, in Galesburg, IL, the son of Kenneth H. and Lelia (Walker) Jones. He married Mary Ann Frakes on October 8, 1961, in Galesburg. She preceded him in death on March 4, 2019.

Kent graduated from Spoon River Valley High School in 1951 and attended Bradley University, Illinois State Police Training Academy, The U. of I. Police Training Institute, and Black Hawk College. He was a retired Illinois State Police Officer and a U.S. Army veteran.

Kent had been a member of the Retired State Police Association of Illinois, State Police Command Officers Association, Fraternal Order of Police, and Illinois Police Association.

He is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Kent was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and sisters, Phyllis Wolfe and Patricia Elliott.
