Norma J. Peak, 86, of East Moline, IL, died Monday, September 30, 2013, at Genesis Illini Campus in Silvis, IL. Per her wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. A memorial service will be held Friday, October 4th, at Wendt Funeral Home, with the two-hour visitation from 2:00 p.m. until time of the service. Memorials may be made to the Library Fund at First Christian Church in Moline, or to any local food pantry. Norma J. Franklin was born in Pratt, KS, on February 7, 1927, to Albert and Lucille (Erb) Franklin. On December 22, 1950, in Moline, she married Donald Peak, who preceded her in death July 26, 1986. Norma retired in 2001, from the accounting department of Illini Hospital after having worked there since 1996. Previously, she had worked at First Christian Church in Moline (1965 to 1993), Uptown Variety in Moline (1964 to 1965), City of Moline as Crossing Guard (1962 to 1964), and at United Township High School (1945 to 1951). She had been a member of First Christian Church since 1938, and was secretary/treasurer of Official Board and Congregation, Deaconess, and a Sunday School teacher. She also was active in Christian Women's Fellowship as Group Leader, Secretary, and Treasurer, and the Golden Circle Class as President, Vice,President, Secretary, and Treasurer. At Willard School she was a crossing guard, P.T.A. President, Vice-President, Brownie and Girl Scout Leader. She was a Leader, Secretary, Treasurer, and Weight Recorder at TOPS #IL403 in Moline. Norma was co-founder, President, and Treasurer, of the Greater Quad-Cities Church Secretaries' Association. She volunteered, and was auxiliary secretary, at the Illini Hospital, and was President and Newsletter Editor of the Colona House Social Club. Survivors include, children: Debra Lou Peak of Odenton, MD, Daniel Lee Peak of East Moline, William Donald (Carole) Peak of Elk Grove, CA, and Jayne Ellen Peak of Rock Island; grandchildren: Caitlin Danielle Peak of Elk Grove, CA, and Jessica Rose Gilmore of Rock Island. In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters: Mabel Leiss and Eunice Wells, and brother: Dean Franklin.
