Myrtle Theo Williamson

Myrtle Williamson, 101, of Rock Island, IL, formerly of Moline, IL, died Friday, February 19, 2010, at Silver Cross Pavillion at Friendship Manor in Rock lsland. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 23rd, from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline. Services will be Wednesday, February 24th at 11:00 a.m., at Riverside United Methodist Church in Moline. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens in Silvis, IL. Memorials may be made to Friendship Manor, or Riverside United Methodist Church. Myrtle Theo Meek was born on August 14, 1908, to Glenn and Bessie (Gran) Meek in East Moline. On December 18, 1926, in East Moline, she married Dean B. Williamson, who preceded her in death in 1983. She was the Administrative Assistant for for her husband's insurance agency for many years, and was also an Avon sales representative. Myrtle was a woman of faith. She was a member of the former Aldersgate United Methodist Church (now Riverside United Methodist Church) in Moline, a past member of Lydia Circle; a past member of Aldersgate United Methodist Women; and she served on the church Administrative Board for 27 years. Myrtle moved to Friendship Manor, in Rock Island, in 1985, and was a very active resident for many years. One of her favorite activities was square dancing, which she was still doing when she was 90 years old. She enjoyed looking her best, always dressing as neat as a pin. Myrtle was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by her friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and two sisters: Marjorie Welsh and Dorothy Hutton.
