Miriam Mcroy

Miriam McRoy, 102, of Coal Valley, IL, died Wednesday, June 18, 2008, at Trinity Medical Center West in Rock Island, IL. Miriam White was born September 9, 1905, to Arthur and Anne (Wood) White in Mason, MI. She married David M. Aldredge on January 3, 1929 in Moline, IL. He died in 1966. She then married Charles McRoy in 1982 in Moline, and he preceded her in death in 1984. Miriam attended high school in Caldwell, ID, and graduated from Linfield College in McMinnville, OR. She was a substitute teacher in Moline School District 40, and taught piano lessons for many years. She volunteered to play at many functions in the Quad-Cities, and played the piano at her 100th birthday party. She was a life time member of First Baptist Church in Moline, and the Mary Little Deere Chapter of D.A.R. Services will be held Saturday, June 21st at 11:00 a.m. at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline. Visitation will be Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until time of the service. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Moline. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church in Moline. Survivors include: a daughter: Margie Shepherd of Moline and Columbus, MS; grandchildren: Anne Smet Miller, Katy Smet Cruz, Arthur Smet, Robert Smet, Mary Jane Shepherd Brown, David Shepherd, Sharon Shepherd Peebles, Dale Shepherd, Donnie Shepherd, Wanda Shepherd Johnson, and Dean Shepherd; twenty-two great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Garry Hinz. She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, and a daughter, Mattie Anne Smet.
