Mildred L. Matters, 92, of Moline, IL, passed away Tuesday, December 27, 2016, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf, IA. Services will be Friday, December 30th, at 10:30 a.m., with a 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. visitation prior to the service, at Salem Lutheran Church, 1724 – 15th Street, Moline. Burial will be at National Cemetery on Arsenal Island in Rock Island, IL. Memorials may be made to Salem Lutheran Church in Moline. Mildred Lucille Wiklund was born in Moline on May 13, 1924, to Bartel and Florence (Lindstedt) Wiklund. She graduated from Moline High School, and served as a WAVE in the U.S. Navy during WWII. On February 26, 1946, in Moline, she married William Matters, who preceded her in death in 1999. She was employed by Frank Foundries in Moline, and was a member of Salem Lutheran Church. She loved spending time with her family and friends. Survivors include daughters, Susan Miller of Moline, and Barbara (Donald) Johnson of Peoria, IL; a grandson, Bobby Miller, three great-grandchildren, Kaelic, Kassandra, and Nate; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Doris and Bernice, and three brothers, John, Robert, and Richard.
