Mildred G. Martin, 94, of Moline, IL, died Monday, December 17, 2012, at Amber Ridge Memory Care in Moline. Visitation will be Friday, December 21st from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline. Services will be held Saturday, December 22nd, at 10:30 a.m., at First Christian Church, 1826 - 16th Street, Moline. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens in East Moline. Memorials may be made to First Christian Church in Moline. Mildred Geraldine Peters was born in Ainsworth, IA, on March 21, 1918, to Richard and Emma (Harrison) Peters. On July 20, 1940, in Davenport, IA, she married Robert Wilson Martin, who preceded her in death November 20, 1998. She graduated from Brighton High School, and Washington Community College, and taught school. Mildred was a member of First Christian Church in Moline, taught Sunday School, was an elder, and a member of the Christian Women Fellowship. She was a Girl Scout and Boy Scout Leader, and volunteered at the East Moline State Hospital. She hosted the afternoon program for ARC, and was a member of Birthright, (EPS). Survivors include: a daughter: Diane (David) Ballard of Moline; two sons: Thomas J. Martin of Goodyear, AZ, and Richard (Donna) Martin of Port Byron, IL; grandchildren: Christine Ballard of Moline, Lori (Joel) Jens of Sheboygan, WI, Julie (Scott) Heiser of Loveland, CO, Meeghan Martin, and Erin (Andy) Stauffer, all of Goodyear, AZ, Jody (Barbara) Bielema of Fulton, IL, Drew Martin of Hooper, UT, and Amie Martin of Mesa, AZ; and great-grandchildren: Anna and Liam Jens, Ellie, Jacob, and Joseph Heiser, Maxwell, Sophia, and Harper Oransky, Rileigh Fraiser, Addison and Brayden Stauffer, Nathan Bielema, and Melissa Martin. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Richard H. Peters. The family would like to thank the staff of Amber Ridge Memory Care for the love and care they offered their mother, and also, to Beacon of Hope Hospice.
